Jun 2009: First Focus extends Deskside and Break-fix capability
First Focus has expanded its National Field Service and break fix capability, with the addition of Steven Hayes, into the role of field services manager. Steve brings considerable experience into First Focus including desktop and infrastructure rollouts for IBM, Westpac, Bank of Queensland, Laing O’Rourke, Dell, Lexmark, Radiant Systems, Legal aid and more.
Steve was previously the Director of Your PC Solutions; a National IT private labelled field service provider, and First Focus has taken over the provision of field services to YPCS clients following YPCS closure May 2009.
First Focus worked with Steve and YPCS for the previous 12 months as a supplier, and we are delighted to add someone of his calibre into our team. Steve will take this division of our business up to the next level, and this will allow us to deliver excellent solutions for our customers. First Focus will also be adding many of the YPCS field techs to our existing team, which extends our capability to service over 100 locations around Australia and New Zealand.
Jan 2009: First Focus completes MPLS Network Upgrade
Taking 6 months to complete, First Focus commenced the deployment of our own new Layer 2 network and overhaul of our co-location infrastructure in July 2008. Our customers were demanding a high quality service to support expanded requirements in the areas of application delivery and cloud computing, so we undertook this strategic initiative to place First Focus at the forefront of modern technical infrastructure services.
We performed a total overhaul of our telecommunications infrastructure, including:
- Implementation of a high capacity Layer 2 Fibre-optic network to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with significant capacity and scalability.
- Replacing our core routers with redundant carrier-grade BGP Routers housed in both Global switch and Equinix data Centers.
- Internet capacity to MCI and Verizon has been upgraded and an additional (third) redundant internet connection has been added via Optus
- Capacity between Sydney Data Centers has been upgraded, and redundancy has been added
- Modern high capacity Juniper firewalls have been installed
- A third Data Center has been added to our network in Melbourne
- A new meshed core switching architecture has been built
- Significant capacity and functionality has been added to our entire managed services platform
Overall this Network allows us to continue to provide leading end-to-end IT infrastructure services, from the data centre to the desktop, with service level guarantees and complete accountability for all components. This results in reliable infrastructure solutions, highly competitive pricing and outstanding outcomes for our customers

April 18 2007 - First Focus has moved!
First Focus expands and head office moves to Botany.
Due to rapid expansion, First Focus has outgrown our previous location, and we have moved to Botany. The new location within the Lakes business park provides us with ample parking, space for our help desk, build and test labs and our hardware warehouse.
Located just off Southern Cross Drive, and a stone's throw from Sydney Airport, our new head office gives us access to the CBD and North Sydney within 15 minutes, and easy access to the M5 corridor.
