Custom Solution Gets Radical Australia Racing

Radical Australia

Radical Australia is the largest importer of race cars in the country. They provide an unparalleled series of race driving and corporate motorsport offerings based around some of the fastest cars currently competing in Australia. The Radical Australia Cup is a one-make series broadcast nationally as part of the Shannon’s Motorsport Series, and this is backed by a series of track days for novice race drivers and extreme corporate experiences.

Where they were

Just like in Formula 1, off-track race data analysis is often the key to performance on the race track. All Radical sportscars are installed with video cameras, engine management computers, and software to track how the vehicle, engine, and driver perform in each session. However, the collection of personal laptops being used to analyse all this data was inefficient and ineffective.

What we did

First Focus worked closely with Radical to design a customised solution for the drivers. Sales and Marketing Manager for Radical Australia, Tom Wilson, described the solution.

“First Focus implemented a data transfer, storage, and analysis solution for our race team. Drivers are provided with personalised laptops enabling the quick and easy analysis of driver and vehicle data and onboard video to overlay against “The Stig’s” performance, which is pre-loaded within the software”.

First Focus ensured that no detail went overlooked – from the individual personalisation of ‘action-shots’ of the drivers on their desktop wallpaper, to testing and selection of high-speed USB ports and keys for data transfer, and even ensuring each driver’s name and driver number was embroidered on his or her laptop bag.
